A MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE
The red red rose, after her transformation from streetcar conductor Ethel Parker, found bliss in marriage to this white fence, altered magically from his previous existence as Dave Pillers, insurance adjustor and hat model. Convenience? They had been frightfully dedicated one to the other when both were human, though when pressed into maritime service, they had to admit they quarreled from time to time when swabbing. Nevertheless, it was most fortunate for the pair to be strolling in a nice neighborhood when they were transformed. I mean, their normal haunts were skid rows and ship bilges. This, I suppose, is the reason that their love story was never celebrated in song. Some guy created a ballet for mimes about it, though. It wasn’t much good.
