Red and Claw Harpoon, moonshiners from Odd Lake County, flung themselves away from the explosion. Tattered and bleeding, they swore revenge on Dave Shuttlesworth. Driving to town in their battered and bleeding Model T, they swore revenge on Tim Potfellow, proprietor of the General Store. Walking down Main Street, shotguns cradled in blood, they swore revenge on Muddy Alvin, the town sober. They even swore revenge on the Widow Ballard and her chimp. They did a whole lot of swearing that day. Truth, they did a whole lot of swearing every day. But that day stood out just a little bit more than the others.
