THE EYES

February 22, 2016

‘Can you see the eyes?’

‘I see them.’

‘Well?’

‘They’re closed.’

The two fools edged closer to the immense stone statue. They placed their hands on the cool torso. The eyes remained closed. The signal to proceed was nodded by one of the fools. Up they went until they stood on the statue’s shoulders. The eyes remained closed. The fools reached out to touch the gigantic emerald in the golden crown.

The eyes opened.

INTRODUCTION

February 17, 2016

Ladies and gentlemen, it is incumbent on me, as you no doubt can see. If someone would kindly remove incumbent, we will proceed. That’s right, boys. Don’t be too rough. Just get him out of here. Now, where was I? Oh, yes. It has fallen upon me, though not to worry, I escaped unscathed. Now, to get down to basics, here is the heart of the matter. And might I ask, what is the heart of the matter doing here? Take it to the kitchen, where they no doubt are wondering wherever did it get to. So, now, finally, to get to the point. Take the highway north along the coast until you see a windmill. Turn left and proceed out to the spit of land thrusting itself rudely into the ocean. I’ll meet you there in twenty minutes and introduce our speaker for the evening, who at this very moment is buried up to his neck in sand. Let’s go. Last one to arrive is a jellyfish.
