CARLTON GRANE

April 26, 2010

Raised in a spent howitzer shell, Carlton Grane developed an explosive temper. Fed only peanut shells for the first five years of his life, he was understandably nuts. Though insanity and rage ruled his every action, he managed to marry surprisingly well. surprisingly, surp to her friends, spelled her name in all lower case letters to honor her favorite literary characters, archie the cockroach and mehitabel the cat. The union of Carlton and surp was blessed with issue. The issue was prayer in schools.  Carlton passed away while attempting to swim underwater from San Diego to China. surprisingly Grane went on to serve two terms in the British Parliament, a rare achievement for a passionate life-long citizen of Bakersfield, California.

This blank canvas meadow has been prepared by Mother Nature. She primed it with a coat of snow, and now She ponders the colors She’ll use to make it bloom. The loon will return to this spot in a month to examine and record Her work. I’m thinking orange, purple, and yellow. We’ll see.

April 24, 2010

That old Bessie would beeswax the lawn to make the birds slip.

That line is from the radio play, Under Milk Wood. If you read the drama aloud, you might hear the word music better than if you read it asilent.

Here is a segment of sidewalk in San Carlos, California. The loon once lived in a pink structure located to the left of this particular view. He decided this spot was worthy of being painted. Therefore, he painted it. Yes, pink structure.
