Gort ghost: First of all, thanks for the welcome. Second of all, I eat all sorts of things, such as bread and wine. Sometimes licorice for a treat. Red, not the black.
Loon: Interesting. Do you have a favorite bread?
Gort ghost: No.
Loon: Oh. In that case, what’s your favorite digging tool?
Gort ghost: My laser is pretty handy for all sorts of things, digging to baking.

The laugh echoes along the hall, stops, pushes the down button, and chuckles softly while awaiting the elevator’s arrival. ding. The doors part, and the laugh tumbles into the not unoccupied cubicle. Greeted by the snarl, the laugh hoots and pushes 1. Doors close. Elevator descends. Doors open. The laugh erupts into the late afternoon hustle bustle. The snarl hurls itself into the traffic, binding it to honking helplessness. Meanwhile, the laugh flits homeward on the breeze to a remarkable dinner and a quart of vodka.
