SILL AND FISS

May 27, 2010

That’s Sill on the right, Fiss on the left, a sister/brother set of twins. They star in an experimental circular story, The Ledgemoon. It’s a story in the form of a wheel, the spokes of the wheel being the chapters. Enter the story at any spoke and read around and around as long as you like.

THE ELEPHANT AND THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER

May 25, 2010

The elephant and the insurance adjuster moved to the starting line and crouched low, preparing to hurl themselves down the track. The starter, a renegade bacteriologist, raised her pistol. Neither elephant nor insurance adjuster spoke a word, but both peered through slit eyes of rage at the innocent sky. Insufferable insults had been exchanged days earlier at the boxcar convention, and now the result, a 100 yard race of hate, was about to play out to its inevitable forensic conclusion. Microphones were installed in the dirigible overhead just as the renegade bacteriologist fired the pistol. The insurance adjuster took an early lead, but was overtaken and trampled to jelly by the elephant. The people waiting around with bread and peanut butter were beneath contempt.

QUEEN AMZO’S GARDEN

May 23, 2010

This path leads to Queen Amzo’s garden at Honeygold, Clover Castle. She goes there to be alone with her thoughts, which are mostly about her daughter, Lorelei Lo, who as an infant had to be sent away to be raised as Servant Princess to the Dragon. Her story takes place 1000 years before the to-be-released on June 1 by Wild Child Publishing Bekka of Thorns.

A SENTENCE BY ANITA LOOS

May 22, 2010

I mean it was quite amuseing in spots because it was really quite riskay but the spots were not so close together and I never seem to like to always be hunting clear through a book for the spots I am looking for, especially when there are really not so many spots that seem to be amuseing after all.

A Marilyn Monroe movie and a Broadway smash hit pale when placed next to the original slim novella, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, by the tiny and talented Anita Loos.

THE GOLDEN SPIKE

May 20, 2010

Imagine, if you will, the presence of pompon girls and cheerleaders at Promontory Point, Utah in 1869 when the golden spike completing the transcontinental railroad was driven. It might have gone something like this:

Cheerleaders (pompon girls behind them shaking pompons rhythmically): Well, skit, skat, how ’bout that.

Dignitaries and railroad workers: Well, skit, skat, how ’bout that.

Cheerleaders (pompon etc.): Now drive that golden spike ayamma yamma.

Digs and RR w: Now drive that golden spike ayamma yamma.

Cheerleaders (etc.): Yes, drive that golden spike ayamma yamma.

Digs and RR w: Yes, drive that golden spike ayamma yamma.

Cheerleaders (whispering): Well, skit skat, how ’bout that.

Digs and RR w (whispering): Well, skit skat, how ’bout that.

Cheerleaders (shouting, pompon girls doing whatever): SKIT SKAT!

Digs and RR w (shouting): SKIT SKAT!

IVAH SKAY

May 19, 2010

I finished a re-edit of the story of this particular Princess yesterday. By carbonate of soda, it captured me. I’d been away from it long enough to forget the details. So I’d like to thank Ivah Skay, her hatred of idiotic rules, and her determination to become The Great Green Va. Also thanks to her fellow adventurers, the skrabbler Spar Marcasite and the hutkeeper Weedthistle. Perhaps one day a click on the site at https://bekkaofthorns.com will make possible the purchase of The Great Green Va.

DEFINITION OF A MARRIAGE

May 18, 2010

Spoonfork Lassiter purchased delicious food-like substances at the local supermarket. On returning home, he complained to his wife, Henpeck, about the outrageously escalating costs of food-like substances.

“Henny, it’s outrageous how the costs of food-like substances have escalated,” he complained. “Why, I could have purchased ten bags full of food-like substances twenty years ago for what I had to pay today for this lone bag.”

“Oh, stuff a sock in it,” said Henpeck, defining their marriage.
