b. he lost a bet and had to tend bar while wearing a kilt.
c. it was the only thing around he could find to kill.
d. his erratic marksmanship felled a bar 20 paces to the left of the fawn he was aiming to annihilate.
Apparently the destruction of the planet takes a back seat to short term greed.
