Loon: Today’s celebrity ghost is some guy named Cezanne. I’ve got my three questions prepared. Are you ready, Cezanne?
Cezanne: Oui.
Loon: Now for the second question. Did you follow baseball at all over there in France? I know it was way early in baseball time, but did you?
Cezanne: No.
Loon: Finally, they tell me you were some sort of a painter or something. Along those lines, just tell me, smock or no smock?
Cezanne: Huh?
Loon: That’s all the time we have. Be back next week when I’ll be posing three questions to some other dead guy or gal.

There should be something about this hillside – the view of Alcatraz, say, or the foghorns or the mossy smell of the planks beneath her feet – that would lead her back to her lost wonderland.

With hasty use of his cell phone, he captured this image of the stick serpent’s mid-section as it slithered away. Following this shock, the loon repaired to his domicile, where he placed a cold compress on his forehead.

Loon: I have happily been selected by the powers that be to direct 3 questions to the shades of several celebrated persons. First I am delighted to welcome that former man about town and all around cool guy, Albert Einstein. Al, first let me ask you, what is your favorite color?
Albert Einstein’s Ghost: Green … No, red … Wait … Definitely blue.
Loon: I’ll mark that down as ‘blue’ then. All right?
Albert Einstein’s Ghost: Yes. Blue.
Loon: Question 2. Do you know who put the ram in the ramalamadingdong?
Albert Einstein’s Ghost: No, I don’t.
Loon: Darn. I was hoping a smart guy like you would know that. Oh, well. Third and final question. What flavor of pudding do you prefer, chocolate or vanilla?
Albert Einstein’s Ghost: I like butterscotch.
Loon: CHOCOLATE OR VANILLA!
Albert Einstein’s Ghost: chocolate.
Loon: That’s all for today. Join me next time when I ask somebody else something.

But the Dark Ages that are to come will cover the whole world in a single pall; there will be neither escape nor sanctuary, save such as are too secret to be found or too humble to be noticed.

Walter was a nationally ranked river swimmer. As a San Francisco youth, he swam daily from Angel Island, where he camped each summer, to Oakland and back again. This activity soon prepared him for river swimming, which he took to with gusto. Therefore, it was no surprise to anybody at all that on ‘Bringing Up Baby’ off days he flew to Northern California in his own private supersonic transport toboggan, invented by Walter himself, and plunged into the Sacramento River and vigorously churned about for hours.
